I would like to narrate my experience in fasting to support Anna Hazarre Movement against corruption.
I was watching tv on August 19,2011. Anna got released from Tihar Jail after 3 days of fasting. Anna came out and ran leaving police men struggling to keep pace with him. That energy in him and the motive behind his movement inspired me to participate in the movement. I decided to take part in the fast at L.B.Road, Adyar.
I went to L.B.Road. As soon as I got down the bus,I started searching for the fasting venue. Suddenly 10-20 people in bikes having Flag in their hand came towards me shouting "Vande Mataram" "Bharath Mata ki Jai" ...I was thrilled....I also shouted and marched towards the fasting venue. I was simply overwhelmed when I entered the fasting venue. What a sight was it...
I saw about 50 supporters waving flag..The whole area was reverberating with "Bharath Mata Ki Jai" " Vande Mataram"...I was moved...I also shouted with full energy...I painted my face with Tatoo(see pic above) and sat among the supporters.. Song was Played "Suno Gaur se Dunia walon ..bhuri najar na hampe dalo" I sang with all them..
Some of the supporters were asked to speak before the crowd..My heart told me to speak before this crowd..I had just recieved an sms from a friend enlisting the benefits of eradicating corruption. I read out the 10 benefits to the crowd. I could not believe the response I got. Crowd applauded after each and every point...10 times... My joy new no bounds....At the end of the speech I said.." I end my speech with a line in Hindi... " Sar katwae sakthe hain lekhin Sar Jukha sakthe nahi" . Meaning.. " We will have our head cut but we wont bow down ". I shouted at the highest pitch of my voice " Vande Mataram " Bharath Mata Ki Jai" .
I stayed for few hours and came out of the venue.. At the exit..I could see supporters with Flags shouting the slogan "Vande Mataram" . I am only happy to repeat these words again and again in this blog. I shouted "Vande Mataram" . I walked away from the venue with happy heart and joy of doing my duty towards my Mother India. Some of the public on the road side asked me if the agitation was over. I said "No" and said" It will continue till corruption is wiped out of this country". One man responded " You cannot wipe out Corruption" .. I replied " Yes this is what many people thought before 1947 that India cannot become free ...But it happened...Corruption will come to and end..." One of the supporters standing near by said " Sir,Well said,Corruption will be brought to an end and we will do it" ..This is the spirit among us.
To end this write up I would like to add unfortunate thing about agitation in Chennai.. I could see only 50 supporters and 30 people fasting.. Is this enough? In Mumbai and Delhi, people have come out in large numbers. Ram Lila Maidan is flooded with people...Why not Chennai? Are we not patriotic ? We are patriotic..We are not aware about this..My aim to write this is to create awareness among readers...Please come and join this movement...This second freedom struggle..Only difference being,before 1947 we fought against British,Now we are fighting against our own Government...A line in Hindi " Uss din Goron Ne loota...Ab Kaale loot rahe hain".Meaning " Those days(before 1947) White people looted us but black (our Govt) is looting us..".
